To Cut? Or Not To Cut?

The week before Anna was born they did one last ultrasound to make sure everything was ok. To my delight the girl doing the ultrasound say, "WOW, look at all that hair!" I was so excited. I was born with a full head of hair and I guess I really wanted my baby to have lots of hair too.
The other day I was playing with Anna and I started looking at her hair. This is what I saw.
Now, I don't know if the pictures convey what I am laughing about. She has a funny little ring of long hair on top and quite the bush at the back by her neck. I pointed this out to Devin and said, "Maybe we should cut her hair so it is even and not so funny looking." He was holding Anna at the time and looked her in the eyes and said, "Anna, if mommy tries to cut your hair you scream as loud as you can." He was pretty firm that I was ABSOLUTELY NOT going to cut her hair.
Help! What do I do with this crazy uneven hair? I really want to cut it, just so it is even and not so crazy looking. Help!!!

Here's my opinion--take it or leave it. Cut the back and leave the top. My reasoning;baby mullets are not cute, however, cute baby curls on top are--they add personality!

Let me be absolutely clear here. I will selectively forget anyone who says to cut the hair.

Oh, and I was talking to the tooth fairy earlier today, and she told me that anyone who recommends to cut Anna's precious hair will be dropped from her route. She sounded pretty serious.

I wanted to cut Hayden's hair when he was tiny like that. My mom told me not to so I waited. His head grew. If I had cut the back he would have had no hair half way up his head.

My sister-in-law shaved he girls hair so it was even. They have the most beautiful thick hair. I started shaving Hayden's when he was a little bigger and it helped it grow more even and thick.

In other words I guess I am sying I would wait a little bit longer and then shave it (not to the scalp of course) so it is all even and let it continue to grow.

Totally agree! I hate baby mullets. A girl who used to be in our ward kept the mullet on her girl FOREVER! It is not an attractive look.

She's still so young though so you could wait for a while before you cut the back. Just don't let her look like that when she's 10 months old. :)
Sorry Devin.

DON'T CUT IT!!!!!
I felt the same way when Sadie was littler... and I asked around and people told me to wait, so I did. And wouldn't you agree that Sadie's hair is pretty cute???
Oh and no offence to any one else but don't shave it... Its doesn't make it grow in thicker and it will just take longer for it to even out. All it really does it cut off the finer baby hair, so it appears to be thicker. Just let it grow and it will be okay... sure you might think it looks a little funny, but she's Anna, ahe can't be anything but cute!
Oh and one more thing... remember from your mission? If you cute it before she's one (?) she'll be mute.

I say cut it! I did that with each of my kids and saved the little bit of baby hair that you cut off and kept it in their baby book/scrapbook. If you don't cut it, you'll never have any to remember it with!

Don't cut it! It will even out eventually. My girls always get the long hair on top before anything else. I eventually give them the pebbles look with one ponytail on top. The back will all grow in evenly before too long.

Peter - I would pull out the shaving cream and bic it!...(I smile as my wife decks me.) Just kidding, I don't mind weird baby hair. I'm sure by the time she begins dating, it will be more even.

Emily - If you want to cut it, cut it. I would probably wait until she's done rubbing a bald spot on the back of her head. I cut Zach's hair many times, and he's not mute. :)

DON'T CUT IT. Just learn to be patient. It will even out faster than you realize. I am glad she has some hair. Don't cut it! Listen to Devin!

I have to laugh! When Gabe was little he had the same thing....and I LOVED it....looking back to some photos, sometimes he looks so silly with a little tiny tuft on the top of his head, and nothing anywhere else!!! If you cut it...it will be sad now, but it does grow faster!

I would say to maybe wait a little longer and then decide. My guy is 5 months old and his has evened out for the most part. As he has grown and has started to move his head more and in different ways, there really isn't much of a mullet left. But if was still there around 5-6 months, then I would have considered cutting it (taking into account the fact that he's a boy and I don't plan on having his hair grow out much anyways--just thicker). Whatever you do though, I'm sure she'll stay just as cute!

I would leave it. It will even out. It seriously doesn't look that bad. It will eventually even out, If it doesn't when shes about a year you can get it evened out.
Trust me most babies have weird hair. Most of my kidos had a lovely bald spot on the back of their heads.

Hold Everything! I have a solution!. . . . To appease the masses we must do both.
Pick one side to shave and one side to remain. That way we can see if it really does grow back in thicker or not and you'll have an option of which side to take a picture of.

Devin is just upset because his daughter is going to have more hair then him soon. Oh pooh! Her hair will always keep growing, I saw cut it.

So does this mean that Devin is the type of man who would notice if she got a haircut? What a catch!

It is her baby hair and the real hair will catch up soon. I say leave it!
