We love conference at our house. It is quite the different experience with two little kids. I sometimes miss the good old days when we would just sit and take notes like crazy. Those days are gone and we are in now in the days of trying to help our kids fall in love with conference. We have really enjoyed doing our conference posters. We find the speaker, glue them on the poster, and then draw a picture or write some words that stands out during that person's talk. We also have scripture, temple, and Jesus stickers that the kids can put up anytime they hear anything about scriptures, temples, and Jesus. Anna and Nicholas loved being the one to glue the person on.
The posters turned out great.
We leave the posters up in our basement until next conference. It is a great reminder of conference.
We also put up the pictures of the twelve and first presidency as they spoke. It was cute to see the kids trying to match the pictures with the guy on the TV. Some of them look really different.
If someone were to come in our basement and see the pictures on the wall they might be confused at the order. But we know it is the order that they spoke in conference from right to left. Anna loves Elder Bednar. Funny that she had to wait until the VERY end to hear him speak. She kept wanting to watch more conference because Elder Bednar hadn't spoken yet.
The kids really liked leading the music during the songs.
Nicholas's awesome nursery leader made him a little picture on a stick of President Monson. He walked around for days holding it saying, "Follow the Prophet, He knows the way."
Devin and I were so glad that we decided to make popcorn right before Elder Holland's talk. The kids just munched through the whole talk. His talk was AMAZING!!!
We made it through another conference. It was wonderful. We had great moments of children sitting quietly like this.
And a lot of moments like this.
It is worth all the effort to make conference fun for our kids. I want more than anything for them to love conference. It is so important.
This conference was one I won't forget with the announcement about missionary ages. Devin and I spent most of that day talking about how different our lives would be if he could have gone at 18 and if I could have gone at 19. I am grateful for inspired leaders. I am grateful for the example of the youth who are stronger than ever and who are ready to go out and serve. I hope to do all I can to help my children be strong and faithful. If I can help my kids be good at anything, I hope I can help them be good at the gospel. More than academic or sports achievement, I hope that my kids will be ones that people look at and say, "Now there is an example of a worthy son and daughter of God."
Here's hoping. We will keep at it one family prayer, scripture study, FHE, Stake Conference, and General Conference at a time. No matter how much yelling, screaming, and crying...we are going to keep doing it because it works!

Blocks and dominos were helpful in the entertainment department.
