Our garden was hot and cold this year. It either did really well or really not so well. I guess I spent more time playing with my kids than taking care of my garden this year, and taking pictures of my garden for that matter.
She is an excellent at stirring the pots.
On our kitchen table.
And a few on the counter.
My favorite part of canning this year was being able to have Anna help me with so much. Anna is a great helper. It is tons more fun to can with someone.
I think she got sick of canning beans. "NO MORE BEANS MOMMY!!!"She is an excellent at stirring the pots.
She loved helping husk the corn too.
Here are some pictures of things that came out of our garden this year.
We also canned pickles.
More pickles and peaches.
We were lucky enough to get our hands on enough tomatoes to make our spaghetti sauce for the year. Our tomatoes did horrible this year. I am so grateful for a neighbor that let me have some of her tomatoes.
And then there was our ONE peach tree. Our little peach tree is AMAZING!!! I went out to pick peaches one Saturday and filled a whole wheel barrow.
After pulling the peaches out I had peaches everywhere in my house!
On the washer and dryer.
All over my island in my kitchen. On our kitchen table.
And a few on the counter.
We were able to make all sorts of stuff with the peaches and we gave a ton away too.
Peach cobbler (not pretty to look at, but yummy to eat.)
Enough strawberry peach jam to last us a year. Anna really helped a lot with the jam. She calls it "Change of Heart Jam." Before she helped me with the jam she never wanted jam, she didn't like it. But after making the jam she has had a "change of heart." I think it is cute when she asked for Change of Heart Jam on her toast.
I canned 36 quarts of peaches, YUMMY YUMMY!!!
So for 2012 peaches, beans, cucumbers, and pumpkins did fantastic. Tomatoes, onions, peppers and corn did okay.
I didn't can any apples this year. There was just too much going on. Maybe next year. I am grateful for our little harvest.
